Why I started Primefix

I trained as an engineer, and I spent the early part of my career watching a gap widen between how structures are designed and how they are actually built. Drawings said one thing; sites did another. The difference was rarely incompetence. It was that nobody had made precision somebody's responsibility.

Primefix exists to close that gap. We took the discipline of engineering — specification, verification, documentation — and applied it to work that is usually sold by the day and judged by the invoice.

Integrity in our dealings

A quotation is a promise. If we tell you a job costs a certain amount, that is the amount, and if circumstances genuinely change, you hear about it from us before it reaches a bill. I have turned down work rather than win it on a figure I knew we could not hold, and I would rather keep doing that than build a business on surprises.

Precision in our work

Our tradesmen are employed and supervised by us. That is more expensive than subcontracting to whoever is available this week, and it is the only way I know to guarantee that the standard on your project is the standard we advertise.

Safety above all else

Gas, electricity and structural alterations do not offer second chances. Every engineer on our team is certified, every installation is tested, and every certificate is issued the same day. If a job cannot be done safely within the time available, we take the extra time. That decision is never negotiable, and it is mine to defend.

Across two countries, one standard

We operate residential trade services across the UK and full-scale civil construction across Pakistan. The scale differs enormously; the standard does not. A 60-grade steel cage in Islamabad and a consumer unit in Streatham are held to the same idea — that someone will live with this work for decades, and they will never be able to inspect it themselves.
